With the summer nearing an end I thought I would take the time to
tell you about a lecture series being hosted by the Lundy's Lane
Historical Museum and the Niagara Historical Museum.
The Niagara 1812 Lecture Series is the first in what is hoped to be
many co-operative lectures leading up to the War of 1812
Bicentennial. To kick off this series the Museums will be hosting
renown authors Don and Dianne Graves.
Don will be speaking Friday September 28 at the Niagara Falls Tourism
Office (5400 Robinson St Niagara Falls) on his latest book, "Fix
Bayonets! A Royal Welch Fusilier at War. 1796-1815" This book covers
the career of Lt Colonel Thomas Pearson. Pearson fought in 15 major
battles during the Napoleonic Wars, including Crysler's Farm,
Chippawa, and Lundy's Lane.
Saturday evening will feature Dianne Graves and her soon to be
released book "In the Midst of Alarms. Women and the War of 1812" at
the Niagara Historical Society Museum (43 Castlereagh St, Niagara on
the Lake).
Lectures are $15 each but if you attend both lectures it will be only
$25.
Tickets can be purchased at either Museum. Please call 905-468-3912
or 905-358-5082 for more information. Seating is limited so buy your
tickets now to avoid disappointment.
